De La Peza is a founding partner of De la Peza & Matuk Law Firm. He completed his law degree at UNAM, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City) in year 1992. Presented the professional thesis: “The Legal Status of the Deaf-Mute in the Mexican Law”, which produced the current reform in Article 450 of the Federal Civil Code. He concluded his graduate studies in International Legal Business in the Escuela Libre de Derecho (Mexico City) in year 1993.

Mr. De La Peza has more than 20 years in the legal practice. His experience in multiple trials and highly complex legal transactions and of national significance, has added important value to the firm.

During his career he has been a consultant in the development of various academic works, like the Libro de Obligaciones (Civil Liabilities book) of Jose Luis De la Peza; legislatives works, such as the section on Family Law of the Civil Code for the Federal District. He has also been a speaker at various conferences and round tables, related to his areas of expertise; advisor to the Women and Children’s Rights in the Family of the National Human Rights Commission; an independent consultant for several companies such as insurers and brokerage firms; Chairman of the Board of Directors and partner of the newspaper El Tiempo de Durango, legal advisor of the State of Durango; lawyer for many companies, banks, broker dealers, FX firms, and insurance companies.He is currently a senior partner and head of the Litigation Department in the firm.

His experience and expertise are focused in civil litigation, mercantile law, bankruptcy law, financial, banking, securities, insurance and bonding, administrative and constitutional law, and arbitration.
